The Close Protection Officer Refresher Training Course is designed specifically for active Close Protection Officers seeking to renew their training and qualifications.
This comprehensive Close Protection Refresher course is tailored to individuals who currently hold an SIA Licence and are looking to renew their Close Protection SIA Licence.
This refresher program is essential for close protection officers who plan to renew their licenses on or after October 1st, 2022.
To ensure that your qualifications are up to date, this course will introduce you to newly incorporated elements in the field.
Additionally, it will offer a brief review of previously acquired knowledge and skills to ensure that you are fully prepared to continue your career as a close protection officer.
In addition to reviewing and updating previous course content, this program introduces four new, vital units that broaden the scope of the training:
- it covers Terror Threat Awareness in Private Security. It helps officers recognize, assess, and respond to threats, improving security measures.
- Close protection officers will gain insights into the specific responsibilities and challenges of working as door supervisors within the private security industry. This unit enhances their versatility and adaptability in various security roles.
- This unit focuses on the practical application of physical intervention skills tailored to the needs of close protection operatives. It emphasises safe and effective techniques to handle potentially volatile situations.
- Building upon the previous unit, this section delves deeper into the broader context of applying physical intervention skills within the private security industry as a whole. Participants will learn how to navigate challenging scenarios with professionalism and precision.
What can you expect to learn on the course?
This comprehensive program spans six consecutive days and is structured into four distinct units.
It encompasses a wide range of topics, including the legal aspects of security and the most up-to-date physical intervention techniques.
Unit 1: Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor for Close Protection Operatives (Refresher)
This unit reinforces the legal responsibilities, professional standards and operational principles relevant to close protection operatives functioning in public facing environments.
It includes safeguarding, vulnerability awareness, licensing law and the duties associated with managing public interactions while protecting a principal.
Unit 2: Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)
This unit refreshes learners’ knowledge and skills in the safe, lawful and proportionate use of physical intervention techniques. Training focuses on risk assessed methods, situational control, and personal safety, aligning with Highfield and SIA expectations.
Assessment includes practical demonstrations and multiple choice examination.
Unit 3: Application of Physical Intervention Skills for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)
This unit builds on core physical intervention skills and applies them specifically to close protection scenarios. Learners are assessed on their ability to respond effectively to dynamic threats, changes in operational conditions, and emergency situations while maintaining the safety of the principal, team members and the public.
Practical assessment is mandatory and subject to visual recording for quality assurance purposes.
